STUDENT EXPECTATION: Journal entry
What have you done in the past that you feel most proud of ? Explain in 8-10 sentences.
I am most proud about my accomplishments with my two girls. Ysabel, I taught her to read by the time she was 3 years old. So, in Preschool at San Martin de Porres, she was the reader for mass at school. That was exciting and she continues to be a shining star. She is now 12 years old and she has always received commended scores in Math & Reading. I truly believe that if you teach children above the standard they will excel. So, I have always given her math & reading above her grade level since she was a child. She types 85 words per minute and that is due to her being on a computer since she was 3 years old. Reader Rabbit & all of the Jumpstart programs were fun for us both.
Christine, is also a avid reader and she is the most caring thoughtful child. She is only eight years old, but she is always thinking of others and helping people out. She has also been advanced in her reading. She speaks like a 15 year old, it is strange sometimes. Especially, when she is like, "Mom, clearly I did understand the instructions." Last week, she was appalled, she said to me, "Mom, I don't understand why my teacher is letting the girls where two pieces for the swimming field day. I told him it really is not appropriate for them to wear.!" She is always provides a great laugh for me each day.
In our society today, there is not enough children who truly believe they are gifts from God. I believe that everyone is here on this earth for a reason. God, gives you your special gift. There is no other person just like you. Once, you know your gift you can do great things. I work very hard to teach my girls that they are on a mission, God's mission. I believe, God gave me the ability to work with students and I will continue to work with students.
I am also most proud of, would be that my husband and I have been together since June 1987. That would be 21 years and we waited 8 years to have Ysabel. Marriage is not easy, but nothing in this world is easy. IF LIFE WAS EASY, EVERYONE WOULD BE SUCCESSFUL. It is about climbing each hill that comes in front of you. I believe there is too much divorce in this world and the people who get hurt the most are always the children, we are suppose to protect. I want my girls to know, I try to teach them by example. If I don't want them to use inappropriate language, then I must not use appropriate language. If I want them to have faith, I have to demonstrate to them how to have faith daily.

STUDENT EXPECTATION: Post picture if you Who is your greatest hero? Why Explain 8-20 sentences.
My hero, would have to be HERO'S and that would have to be my mom & dad. They raised eight children and did a rockstar job. My mom and dad both came from Cerritos, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. They did not know English and only finished the 1st grade in Mexico. They came to south Texas in the early 40's. They had my sister Mary in Texas. They were always thinking about trying to have a better life for their unborn children. So, they traveled to Washington state. My mom stayed in Texas until my dad found work. Then she also went to Washington and started working in the Strawberries, apples, pears & cherry picking. My sister Janie was born in Grandview, Washington where they picked cherries. My mother was always praying for our health, happiness and blessing us daily. Every night I would hear her pray the rosary for all of us. Everytime, we every wanted something or to do something, my mom would always say, "Si Dios Quiere." To this day, everytime I speak and leave, my mom will always say, "Que Dios te bendiga, Mija." My mom was the perfect example of a mother always sacrificing. She would never buy things for herself. They both, always told us, as long as we have shoes, clothes to wear, a place to live, an food to eat we are blessed. They taught us to save our money. They always saved their money never buying anything on credit. They NEVER were on foodstamps or state assistance. Raising eight children was tough. My dad, starting working in Construction, building the dams all over Washington. He had to travel sometimes 3 hours to get to work, BUT he would never consider pulling us out of school. Instead he traveled 6 hours a day. My parents saved their money each year and bought a house in Wenatchee Washington. They raised all eight of there in the same house, my brothers built more rooms as the family grew. My mom worked always while my dad was home sleeping, then he would go to work when she was home. After my mom had me, she had an accident at LamWeston where she injured her back. My dad continued to work in contstruction BUT joined the Labor Union and had GREAT benefits. He loved his work, and he worked hard, so he always worked. When he was injured building the Wenatchee Jail he had to stop for awhile. Fortunately, both my parents always had the best medical insurance so that always helped. Plus, all 8 of us worked every summer picking cherries and sometimes apples, pears, onions etc. We made enough money to buy our school close, too. My parents bought land in Texas in the early 80's and started to get ready to move to the Rio Grande Valley. Since, I had attended PSJA junior high one 6 weeks when my grandmother was sick. It was just tooo easy. Open book tests, what is hibernation? kids smoking in class. That was just sad. I had come from a school where I had, 6 page exams, M/C, T/F, fill in the blank & essay. So, when it came time for them to move I was finishing my sophomore year in High School. I was going to be the State officer of DECA my Junior year so, my parents told me, "Si es mejor que te quedas, te dejamos". Basically, if it is better for you to stay, we will let you stay. They always said, "we cannot afford to pay for you to go to college and if letting you stay will help you, then we will let you stay". I am forever indebted to them for making the ultimate sacrifice to let their young teenage daughter stay, in another state while they moved. They put me on their bank accounts, so I could take care of the house. I worked at Liberty Cinemas, I went to school and I continued to college at CWU. I know this was all possible be because my parents ALWAYS wanted what is best for us, "A COLLEGE EDUCATION". Something, they never had the opportunity to achieve. So, my heros, my parents, taught me to WORK HARD, GET a COLLEGE EDUCATION & NEVER GIVE UP, CON DIOS y GANAS todo es posible. (WITH GOD & A PASSION ALL IS POSSIBLE)
